A Day in a port town

"It's...good." Sora mumbled in reply, "I haven't had...salad in a while..." Sora stuttered only because she had been about to say 'food' instead of salad, as it had been a little while since she'd eaten. But she wasn't about to admit that, especially to a stranger.

Sora laughed at his short story, finishing up her salad quickly. She glanced up at Hilda as she approached, asking if there was anything else. Kageyoshi declared that he was "good" before looking questioningly at Sora.

"Oh! N-no I'm fine." Sora replied quickly, looking shyly at Hilda.

Sora watched as Kageyoshi stood to pay, feeling a tinge of regret at being dirt poor. I'm sorry... she thought silently, staring at the table. She payed no mind to the conversation between Hilda and Kageyoshi, being unable to hear anyways.

She glanced up when he returned, and stood slowly. "T-thanks for buying me food..." she mumbled, scuffling her foot on the floor. "I-I'm sorry I couldn't pay......"

"Sure!" Sora grinned, bouncing on ahead of him and out of the restaurant. "Thanks a lot!" She added, looking back at him with grateful eyes. She didn't notice the waitress's interaction with the owner, instead continuing on.

Sora had never been treated to such a wonderful meal! Most usually just gave her a slice of bread, or smaller. So, as one could guess, she was extremely excited about it. This boy was so strange, why was he being so nice to her?

Sora watched Kage, seeing him glancing around. She guessed he was searching for the man. With a tiny squeak of fear, she ducked behind Kageyoshi, eyes wide and fearful. She looked around as well, holding onto his arm.

"I-I don't know..." she muttered when she realized he had asked her a question.

"Oh!" Sora gasped as she was whisked away in the stranger's arms. "I can walk on my own ya know!" she grumbled, annoyed just a bit. Though she was grateful to the odd boy for keeping her safe-even though he was the one who had put her in danger in the first place.
